This semester, I expected many new things since COVID – 19 has changed our every day lives. I have been on a roller coaster of emotions and it’s been quite a frustrating experience to start the school year since we are all going through quarantine and have to attend classes through Zoom and online.
Online learning can beneficial with certain classes, but not for courses that are project-based or require equipment that a student would need. This new way of learning and teaching using online resources is a bit harder because it reduces the benefits on in person interactions as it is much easier to ask a question in person when needing help on the spot. I personally benefit and feel more comfortable with in class learning. Being a student with a learning disability dyslexia , it is noted that we learn better with multi-sensory activities which have individuals using senses like touch and movement while using sight and hearing. Online learning reduces those interactions.
I am excited to learn how to produce audio recordings and post them on a website. I see that most of this class is project-based and it is good to learn these skills which can help me manage a business and create a website to promote my business.
I thing that Media Production taught here at St. Mary’s University is a great way to help future communication majors learn various forms of social media. I look forward to what is to come with this “new way” of learning even if it takes me a little out of my comforts zone.
